So we opened the pool on April 26, and this is what we found....
When Rob pulled the brush out of what we called "the swamp" there were worms! Ugh! He then proceeded to dump a bunch of chemicals into the pool in the hopes that we would be able to clear it up.
This is what we found the next day, April 27...
So obviously we were making progress. We went from a swamp to sludge. Did I mention that the pool stank? Yep, sure did. At this point I didn't think we were going to have any luck clearing it up on our own. I thought for sure we would need to have a professional come out to look at it and then of course they would tell us we had to drain it and refill it. Well we didn't want to do that at all so Rob spent the next week doing research online and learning all he could about what he could do to clear it up. Many more chemicals were added to the water over that week.
And this is what we had on May 4...
So now it seems like real progress is being made. We have murky teal water at this point. It looked bluer on some days, greener on others, but it was always cloudy. So more work, more chemicals, and more research went into the process.
Here is the pool on May 13...
We were surprised to find 4 steps in the pool since up to this point we could almost see the third step. So we were happy with our progress. We ran the pump 24 hours a day to be sure that all the chemicals were being circulated and that all the gunk and junk was being filtered out. What an exciting day it was when we could finally see the bottom of the pool!
Up until today, May 17, the chemical levels have been too high for us to use the pool at all. So we checked the levels today and this was the result....
Ethan's cannonball
Ashlyn's cannonball
And this is Ashlyn gathering up the courage to get into the freezing cold, 62 degree, pool water.
